The Robbery and Serious Crime Squad has today released CCTV images of a person detectives believe can assist them with their inquiries into an attempted armed robbery in the Eastern Suburbs.

About 1.15pm on Thursday 11 April, a man armed with a firearm entered a bank on Clovelly Road, Clovelly, and demanded cash from a teller.

The staff member activated the security screen and the man fled the bank empty-handed.

A blue Mitsubishi sedan with two men on board was driven from the scene a short time later, and police are investigating whether that car is linked to the robbery.

Detectives from the Robbery and Serious Crime Squad have been investigating the incident under Strike Force Jimmie and are releasing CCTV images of a man they believe has information to assist them.

He is described as a male with a light-brown complexion, about 170-175cm tall with a medium build. In the CCTV images he is unshaven and wearing a while Nike cap, sunglasses, a grey long-sleeved jumper and short, white football shorts.

They are asking for anyone who recognises the person depicted in the CCTV, or anyone who has information about the attempted robbery, to contact them immediately.
