Robbery and Serious Crime Squad detectives today charged a man in relation to two armed robberies at Port Kembla and Werrington in April and May this year.

On Monday 29 April 2013, three people armed with a pistol and a knife allegedly threatened staff at a Port Kembla hotel before escaping with a quantity of cash.

On Sunday 5 May 2013, three people armed with a pistol allegedly assaulted and robbed a patron outside a hotel at Werrington. They then entered the hotel and stole an amount of cash.

About 9am today (Friday 14 June 2013), detectives from the Robbery and Serious Crime Squad attended an address at Silverwater and arrested a 34-year-old man from Bidwill.

He was charged with two counts of robbery whilst armed with a dangerous weapon and one count of robbery in company causing wounding.

He remains in custody to appear at Parramatta Local Court on Tuesday 16 July 2013.

Inquiries are continuing and police anticipate making further arrests.
