Police have charged a 31-year-old man following the alleged armed robbery of a service station at Coorparoo last night.

It will be alleged the man entered the Old Cleveland Road business at about 9.30pm, he told the attendant that he had a gun before demanding money and tobacco.

The man left the store with a quantity of tobacco.

The station attendant was not injured.

Police arrested the man in a nearby street a short time later.

The man has been charged with one count of robbery with violence.

He is expected to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court this morning.
