Police are searching for a man following an armed robbery on Middle Road at Hillcrest last night.
About 9:20pm the man walked into a business armed with a knife and demanded cash and cigarettes.
The employee complied and the man fled with a sum of cash and an unknown quantity of cigarettes.
He is described as of Pacific Islander appearance, about 185cm tall with a muscular build.
He was wearing a grey shirt, black gloves and chequered shorts, with his face covered by what appeared to be a black shirt.
