Police are appealing for public assistance after a petrol station in Sydney’s inner west was held up overnight.

About 10.40pm yesterday (Friday 29 June 2013), two men with their faces concealed entered a service station on Georges River Road, Croydon Park and threatened a male staff member, demanding cash.

The men fled a short time later with an amount of cash and cigarettes.

The employee was not injured during the incident.

Police from Ashfield Local Area Command were notified and attended, establishing a crime scene that was examined by forensic specialists.

The first man was described as being of Middle Eastern/Mediterranean appearance, of tall stature, with a medium build, and was wearing grey tracksuit pants, and a light grey jacket.

The second man was described as being of Middle Eastern/Mediterranean appearance, short in stature, with a thin build.
