Police have charged a teenage boy with armed robbery following investigations into the robbery of a Boronia Heights bottle shop last evening.

It will be alleged that a male entered the Middle Road business around 6.30pm armed with a knife and carrying a container with flammable liquid.

Police will allege he ignited the liquid, placing it on the counter and demanded cash.

The male fled on foot with a sum of money.

A 16-year-old Boronia Heights teen will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justices Act. He was also charged with three drug related offences – possession of a dangerous drug, possession of a utensil and possession of a thing.

No one was physically injured during the incident.
