Two men have been charged following the alleged attempted robbery of a bottle shop in Mount Isa last night.

Around 8.45pm two men entered the Marian Street hotel drive through area before allegedly threatening the male attendant with broken glass bottles and demanding money.

A distress alarm was activated and another staff member came to assist before the two men fled on foot empty handed.

The hotel staff were not injured.

Police located two men a short time later on Doughan Terrace.

A 17-year-old man from Pioneer and an 18-year-old man from Mornington were arrested and charged with one count each of attempted robbery and are due to appear before Mount Isa Magistrates Court today.
