Police are investigating after the robbery of a convenience store at North Ipswich yesterday.

Around 6.30pm a man entered the Holmes Street store before grabbing the cash register from the counter and running out of the shop.

While attempting to flee, the man fell over on the footpath outside the store and dropped the cash register on the ground.

A male staff member attempted to stop the man but he fled the scene empty-handed as a passenger in a white four-wheel-drive.

The man is described as being Caucasian in appearance, about 185cm tall with a slim build and wearing a black hoodie, balaclava and shorts.
