A crime scene has been established at a convenience store at Lidcombe following an armed robbery.

Just before 9pm (Wednesday 11 September 2013), two men entered the store on Railway Parade with their faces concealed and armed with an axe.

The pair threatened an attendant before fleeing with a small sum of cash and cigarettes.

They were last seen running down a nearby alley.

No one was injured.

Police from Flemington Local Area Command are conducting an extensive search of the area with assistance from the Dog Unit.

The men are only described as being of medium build and aged in their early 20s.

Police have commenced inquiries into the incident and are urging anyone who witnessed the incident, or any suspicious activity in the area, to come forward.
