Detectives from the Metropolitan Robbery Unit have charged a third man over the alleged armed robberies of multiple businesses across Sydney.

In recent months, a total of 11 brothels, two hotels and a cinema in Sydney’s inner and south west have been targeted. A firearm was allegedly produced in each of the robberies.

Strike Force Trott was established in August to investigate the incidents.

Initial inquiries led detectives to believe the armed robberies were linked and that they were related to a number of carjackings and car thefts across the region.

Last month, investigators charged two men with a number of offences following the execution of four simultaneous search warrants.

Just before 9am yesterday (Wednesday 30 October 2013), police arrested an 18-year-old man at a Regents Park address.

Officers seized a set of stolen number plates that were affixed to the man’s car, as well as a second set from inside the vehicle.

The man was taken to Auburn Police Station where he was charged with two counts of robbery while armed with an offensive weapon and receive/dispose stolen property.

He was refused bail to appear before Burwood Local Court tomorrow (Friday 1 November 2013).
