Police have charged a man following an attempted armed robbery overnight in Innisfail.

Shortly after 10pm, a man entered a service station on Edith Street and police will allege he produced a knife and demanded money.

He had then left the business and was intercepted by police in a vehicle a short time later.

No one was physically injured as a result of the incident.

A 23-year-old Parramatta Park man has been charged with one count each of attempted armed robbery, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, failure to stop, driving without a licence and enter premises with intent.

He is due to appear in the Innisfail Magistrates Court today.
