Police are looking for a male who attempted to rob an auto parts shop at Miami early this morning.

Around 4.15am a man armed with what is believed to be an electronic conducting device attended the Gold Coast Highway business, threatening two male employees and demanding money.

The male fled empty handed after being confronted by the men, one of which was carrying a stick.

One of the employees sustained a minor laceration to his hand during a brief scuffle with the male. The men then chased the male out of the business and into nearby Sunshine Parade before losing sight of him.

The male is described as Caucasian, approximately 180cms tall with blonde or light brown hair, brown eyes and a solid build. He had a black t-shirt wrapped around his face and was wearing a maroon hooded jumper and khaki shorts.

Police investigations are continuing.
