Police are investigating an armed robbery and discharge of firearm incident that occurred yesterday afternoon in Morayfield.

Around 4.45pm, a man armed with a rifle entered a Cresthaven Drive takeaway store and made demands for money.

The 20-year-old female employee handed over a sum of money from the cash register, and the man fled the store on foot.

A nearby resident has seen the man running from the store and attempted to throw a piece of timber at him.

The timber missed the offender, and at this time, the offender pointed and discharged the firearm at the resident.

The shot missed the man, and no one was injured during the incident.

The offender is described as being Caucasian in appearance, aged in his early 20s with a slim build.

He was last seen getting in to a small dark blue hatchback.

Investigations are continuing.
