Police are appealing for information following an armed robbery at Tolland in Wagga Wagga last night.

About 10.40pm (Saturday 22 February 2014), a man entered a convenience store on Bourke Street allegedly armed with a knife and demanded the till be opened.

The attendant stepped back before the offender ran around the counter and opened the till.

When the attendant tried to close the till, the man allegedly punched him in the face and ran from the store with the cash drawer containing a sum of cash.

It’s believed he escaped with an accomplice who was waiting outside.

The attendant activated an alarm, notifying police from Wagga Wagga Local Area Command who attended the store and secured a crime scene.

Detectives investigating the incident would now like to speak to a man who they believe may be able to assist with inquiries.

He’s described as being of Caucasian appearance, 25-30 years old, approximately 183cm tall, with a medium to solid build and short brown hair. He was last seen wearing a light red sleeveless top, dark blue shorts, and a black cloth bearing a white pattern which covered his mouth and nose.

Police are also urging a woman who stopped at the service station a short time after the robbery and spoke to the attendant before leaving to also contact them.

The store attendant sustained swelling to his upper lip but did not require medical treatment.
