Police are appealing for public assistance following an armed robbery at a newsagency near Mudgee overnight.
About 10.30pm (Saturday 15 March 2014), the 48-year-old shop owner arrived at the newsagency on Louee Street in Rylstone to accept a newspaper delivery.
He was approached by two men about midnight as he was leaving the premises, one of whom was armed with a firearm.
The armed man forced the owner into the store and threatened him with the weapon.
The pair fled the scene a short time later with an amount of cash and the owner contacted police.
The owner was not injured during the incident.
Officers attached to Mudgee Local Area Command attended and established a crime scene, which was examined by specialist forensic officers and detectives.
Inquiries into the matter are continuing and police would now like to speak to two men who may be able to assist with their investigation.
The first man is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 180cm tall, with brown/hazel-coloured eyes and of a large build.
The second man is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 170cm tall, with brown/hazel-coloured eyes and of a thin build.
The pair was last seen wearing dark-coloured hooded jumpers, dark pants and gloves. Both men also had their faces covered.
Anyone who knows the identity of either man or has any information that can assist investigators is urged to come forward.
