Police are appealing for information following the attempted armed robbery of a service station in Liverpool this morning.

About 1am (Saturday 5 April 2014), a man who had his face covered, approached a service station on Elizabeth Drive, and requested to be let inside the store.

The employee refused to let the man in and the alleged offender used a garden pick to smash the security glass of the checkout area.

The weapon broke and the alleged offender ran away, leaving the weapon behind.

He was last seen running towards McLean Street.

There were no injuries as a result of the incident and police were called to the scene.

A patrol of the area was conducted; however the man could not be located.

Investigators would like to speak to a man described as being of solid build, wearing a grey hooded jumper with black writing across the front, grey shorts and leggings. The man was wearing gloves and was barefoot.
