Police are investigating the armed robbery of a hotel at Bass Hill last night.

About 11:35pm, Monday 21 April 2014, a man entered the hotel on the Hume Highway and threatened a security guard and two staff members with a handgun.

He was handed an amount of cash before running out of the front doors of the hotel. No shots were fired and no one was injured during the robbery.

Police from Bankstown Local Area Command attended the hotel and conducted a search of the area with the assistance of the Dog Unit, however, the armed man was not located.

Detectives are continuing their investigations and are looking for a man who has been described as being aged in his 30s, 170cm tall and wearing a white/grey hooded top, a dark coloured jacket, dark pants and white shoes.
