Police are appealing for witnesses following an armed robbery at Ramsgate overnight.

Shortly before 11pm (Friday 2 May 2014), a man wearing a bandana around his face entered a hotel on the intersection of Rocky Point Road and Ramsgate Road.

The man allegedly threatened a female staff member with a knife, demanding money.

The staff member complied and the man left the hotel with cash. Staff members chased the man on foot through the rear car park, before losing sight of him.

Police believe he may have entered a vehicle, which was heard driving away a short time later.

No one was injured during the incident.

Officers from St George Local Area Command attended the hotel and established a crime scene.

Detectives would now like to speak to a man who they believe may be able to assist with inquiries.

The man is described only as being of Caucasian appearance and aged between 18 to 30 years old. He was last seen wearing a black hoodie and dark blue tracksuit pants.
