Police have charged a man overnight following yesterday’s aggravated robbery and pursuit through the western suburbs.

Police will allege at about 10.30am yesterday, the 27-year-old from New South Wales, grabbed an amount of cash from a till in the gaming area of the Lakes Resort Hotel on Brebner Drive.

He was confronted by staff and ran off.

A staff member chased the suspect and grabbed him but let go after the suspect allegedly threatened him with a screwdriver.

The suspect was seen to get into a black Holden Colorado utility, registration (Victoria plates) ZWO352, which was reported stolen from a property at Hindmarsh earlier this morning.

Police then spotted the utility on Eastern Parade at Ottoway and pursued it with the assistance of the police helicopter.

The vehicle was pursued through the western suburbs until the utility crashed on Port Road at Hindmarsh.

The driver ran off but was apprehended by police a short distance away.

He has been charged with theft of a motor vehicle, aggravated robbery, dangerous driving to avoid police, two counts of assault, three counts of serious criminal trespass, attempted serious criminal trespass and two counts of theft.

The serious criminal trespasses allegedly occurred at business premises in the Newton and Paradise areas between 4am and 6.45am on Sunday 4 May.

He was been refused police bail and will appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court later today.
