Police are appealing for information after an armed robbery of a hotel at Petersham last night.

About 8.30pm (Wednesday 14 May 2014), two men with their faces covered entered a hotel on Parramatta Road allegedly armed with an axe and knife.

Police have been told the pair demanded money from staff members, who complied.

The men were last seen running along Phillip Street towards Margaret Street with cash.

No one was injured during the incident.

Officers from Marrickville Local Area Command attended the hotel and established a crime scene.

Detectives would now like to speak to two men who may be able to assist with inquiries.

The first man is described as being approximately 168cm tall with a thin build. He was last seen wearing a black hooded top, black face covering, grey or green cargo pants and grey shoes with white soles.

The second man is described as being approximately 168cm tall with a thin build. He was last seen wearing a black hooded top, black face covering, black tracksuit pants with white long stripes, white shoes and carrying a black fabric shopping bag.
