Police are currently at a newsagency on Anzac Highway following an attempt aggravated robbery.

Staff activated the hold-up alarm at 10.09am when a man allegedly armed with a firearm threatened staff and demanded money.

They refused and he fled empty handed. No one was injured during the incident.

The suspect is described as being 20-30 years and wearing blue jeans, a green shirt or jumper under a grey zip-up jacket and large sunglasses.

He was carrying what appeared to be a calico bag and he was last seen running west.
