Cardinia Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for witnesses following an armed robbery at a convenience store in Pakenham this morning.

Police have been told that a man entered the shop on Eagle Drive at 11.39am.

The man approached the counter and made demands for cash threatening a male staff member with a firearm.

The staff member handed over a quantity of cash before the man left the premises and it is believed he rode off on a motorcycle.

He is described as about 180cm tall, with a muscular build & wearing a black balaclava and black jumper.
