A woman has been injured after a man attempted to hold-up a convenience store in Punchbowl at knifepoint today.

About midday (Thursday 3 July 2014), a man entered the shop on Rossmore Avenue and held a large knife to the throat of a 36-year-old female staff member, demanding cash.

The injured woman was taken to Bankstown Hospital for treatment to a wound to her right hand.

The man is described as being of Asian appearance, about 170-175cm tall. He was wearing a dark coloured jumper, a black baseball cap and had the lower half of his face covered.
