Police are investigating the armed robbery of a pizza delivery driver in Sydney’s west overnight.

Just before 10.30pm (Sunday 6 July 2014), a 20-year-old man drove to Lae Place at Whalan to deliver a pizza.

While he was sitting in his vehicle a man approached him saying that he had ordered the pizza but he had dropped his money on the grass.

When the driver got out of the car to help him search for it, he was confronted by a group of five men.

One of the men struck him with a tree branch while another threatened him with a knife and demanded money.

They fled with his bag, containing cash, and the pizzas.

Police were alerted and officers from Mt Druitt Local Area Command are investigating the incident.

Anyone who witnessed it, or any suspicious behaviour in the area, is urged to come forward.

All five men are described as being of Pacific Islander / Maori appearance.
