A shopkeeper has fought back after two males robbed his store in Ermington last night.

About 6:30pm, Sunday 12 October 2014, two males entered the store on Boronia Street with their faces covered.

One of the males, who was armed with a knife, approached the counter and threatened a 63-year-old man.

The second male then attempted to get behind the counter when he was fended off by the man who grabbed a stool.

He was also able to fight off the male armed with the knife before the pair fled with a small amount of cigarettes.

They were seen to run into a nearby street and flee in a black BMW sedan being driven by another person.

Police from Rosehill Local Area Command were called to the store and established a crime scene which was examined by forensic officers.

Detectives are continuing investigations into the robbery and are looking for the two males who have only been described as being of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern appearance.
