Armed Crime Squad detectives are appealing for witnesses following an armed robbery outside a fast food restaurant in Sunbury on Monday.

Investigators believe that three offenders, two of whom were armed with firearms, held up a cash delivery car which was parked in a car park outside the Horne Street restaurant just after 6am.

A quantity of cash was taken but no one was injured during the incident.

Two of the alleged offenders fled the scene on a dark coloured motorcycle.

The other alleged offender left in a late model sports Holden Commodore sedan, believed to look similar to this pictured vehicle.

Both vehicles were in the area prior to the robbery and police are appealing to anyone who may have seen them around the time of the incident or travelling at excessive speeds along the Calder Highway just after 6am.

The Commodore was later located dumped and burnt out in Little River near Werribee.

“We know that both the car and motorcycle drove around the area several times prior to the incident,” Detective Sergeant Warren Chapman said.

“We’re encouraging anyone who may have any information relating to these vehicles, the alleged offenders or the incident itself to come forward,”

Police have released CCTV vision of the car and motorcycle in the hope someone will recognise them.

“We will have an information caravan set up between 5.30am and 1pm today.

“If people can’t make the caravan, we’d appreciate it if information was passed on to Crime Stoppers.”

The information caravan will be set up at 7 Horne Street, Sunbury.
