Police have released CCTV images following an attempted armed robbery at a mini supermarket in Thomastown last month.

Investigators have been told a man entered the Station Street store about 10.15pm on Tuesday 30 December.

The man, armed with a hammer, attempted to steal money from the staff member as he was counting the till.

The offender swung the hammer towards the attendant, however no contact was made.

He then left the store empty-handed and was last seen running down a side laneway.

No one was injured during the incident.

Police have released the below images of a man they believe may be able to assist with their investigation.
