Today a rapid response by Police from Ferny Grove Police Station and the Dog Squad has led to the arrest of a 32-year-old male on multiple charges including the Armed Robbery of a service station on Osborne Road, Mitchelton.

It will be alleged just after 7am the man, whilst armed with a knife, has attended the service station and demanded money from the cashier. The man stole a small quantity of money and left the service station on a bicycle.

Quick thinking police began cordoning off the area and subsequently sighted the man at the Mitchelton Railway Station. Shortly thereafter the man was taken into custody and conveyed to the Ferny Grove Police Station. Detectives later charged him with Robbery whilst Armed, Trespassing on a Railway, Obstructing Police, Stealing and Possessing a Knife in Public. Further charges are expected.

“The swift response by local police assisted by the Dog Squad has led to the arrest of an armed robbery offender this morning. A great outcome for the victim, the police and the broader community,” said Acting Inspector Mat Ryan, Inner West Patrol Group.

The man is due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Friday April 17.
