A man has been charged over two alleged armed robberies earlier this month.

About 5.30am on Friday 1 May 2015, a man allegedly entered a newsagency on Oaks Road at Thirlmere and threatened the owner with an electronic stun device.

The man fled the store a short time later with cash.

Officers attached to Camden Local Area Command were contacted and launched an investigation.

In a separate incident, a man allegedly entered a newsagency on Northern Road, Luddenham, about 8.30am on Saturday (2 May 2015).

He approached the counter and demanded cash. The man left the shop and was last seen entering a silver car parked nearby.

Green Valley police attended and established a crime scene at the location.

No one was injured during either incident.

Following further inquiries, Cabramatta police stopped a silver BMW sedan on John Street at Cabramatta, shortly before 1.30am today (Tuesday 5 May 2015).

During a subsequent search of the 34-year-old male driver, police located an electronic stun device and amounts of methlyamphetamine, cocaine and LSD.

All the items were seized for further forensic examination; and the man was arrested and taken to Green Valley Police Station.

About 10.45am, police executed a search warrant at a home on Swallow Street, Jamisontown, where they allegedly located ammunition, an extendable baton and substances believed to be illicit drugs.

The 34-year-old man was later charged with robbery while armed with an offensive weapon (two counts), possess prohibited weapon, possess ammunition without holding a licence, possess prohibited drug (three counts) and larceny (two counts).

He has been refused bail and is due to appear before Campbelltown Local Court on Wednesday 24 June 2015.
