Police are investigating following an aggravated armed robbery of a bottle store in Colyton yesterday.

About 1.20pm (Thursday 7 May 2015), two men, one armed with a machete, entered a bottle store on Day Street, took a carton of liquor, and approached a 51-year-old man working behind a counter.

Police have been told the armed man threatened the employee, demanding cash.

A 71-year-old man also working in the store approached the unarmed of the two men, and attempted to stop him, when an altercation ensued between the two.

The armed pair then fled the scene, taking the carton. They were last seen in a white Holden Commodore, driving in a northerly direction on Day Street.

The older employee suffered cuts to his wrist, ear and arm. He was treated at the scene by Ambulance Paramedics. The younger employee was uninjured during the incident.

Officers attached to St Marys Local Area Command attended and established a crime scene.

As police continue their inquiries, they would like to speak to two men who may be able to assist them.

One man is described as having a dark complexion, about 176cm tall, of medium build and was seen wearing a dark jumper, jeans, sunglasses and a dark-coloured cap.

The second man is described as being of Caucasian appearance, with a fair complexion, of slim build, about 182cm tall, with light-coloured hair. He was wearing a dark jumper, jeans, sunglasses and a dark-coloured cap.
