Police are appealing for public assistance after a burglar was disturbed in a Frankston country club last month.

The incident happened at the Syke Road club just before midnight on 30 May.

The burglar was disturbed, going through the drawers in a staffroom, by a security guard who was conducting his routine patrol of the club.

Police believe the burglar gained entry to the club by scaling a 3m high wall and then walking through a courtyard.

After a short confrontation with the security guard, the burglar ran from the club, scaling the wall and running off towards Frankston North.

Police have released a face image of the burglar in the hope that someone may recognize him.

Anyone who may have information about this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential crime report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
