Detectives have charged a 29-year-old man following investigations into the armed robbery of a Paget service station yesterday morning.

It will be alleged at 4.55am a man entered the Empire Street business after filling a vehicle with fuel, selected a drink then asked the female attendant for cigarettes.

Police will further allege that when the cigarettes were provided the man indicated he was armed and left with the drink, cigarettes and the fuel.

The female attendant was not physically harmed during the incident.

A 29-year-old Victoria Plains man has been charged with one count of armed robbery and is due to appear in the Mackay Magistrates Court today.
