A 37-year-old man is assisting police with inquiries following the armed robbery of a bottle shop in Mackay yesterday.
At around 4.30pm a man entered the bottle shop on Evans Street and threatened a female attendant with a knife before stealing products from the shelf.
The man then left the store but was tackled on the street by a member of the public and restrained until police arrived.
The man was taken into custody and transported to the Mackay Base Hospital where he is receiving treatment for a leg injury sustained during the tackle.
The employee was not physically injured during the incident.
Investigations are continuing.
