Robbery and Serious Crime Squad detectives investigating a number of armed robberies on the Central Coast have arrested four people and allegedly prevented another robbery from occurring.

Strike Force Bevam was established to investigate a number of armed robberies in recent months during which prescription drugs were stolen.

The strike force comprises detectives from State Crime Command’s Robbery and Serious Crime Squad and Brisbane Water Local Area Command.

Last night (Monday 3 August 2015), acting on information that a robbery was to occur at a chemist in East Gosford, detectives stopped a car on Ocean View Drive, Wamberal, arresting two men and one woman.

Police will allege they seized a large knife and balaclavas from the vehicle. The trio was taken to Gosford Police Station.

A search warrant was executed at a home in Albany Street, East Gosford, where police arrested a second woman and seized a number of items of interest to the investigation.

A 26-year-old man was charged with two counts of robbery whilst armed with an offensive weapon in relation to alleged robberies at an East Gosford chemist on Sunday 19 April and Monday 8 June 2015. He was also charged with conspiracy to commit robbery whilst armed with an offensive weapon in relation to the alleged planned robbery last night.

A 34-year-old woman and a 39-year-old man were both charged with conspiracy to commit robbery whilst armed with an offensive weapon in relation to the alleged planned robbery last night. The man was also charged with two outstanding warrants.

All three were refused bail to appear at Gosford Local Court today (Tuesday 4 August 2015).

A 23-year-old woman was charged with robbery whilst armed with an offensive weapon in relation to the alleged robbery of an East Gosford chemist on Sunday 19 April 2015. She was granted conditional bail to appear at Gosford Local Court on Tuesday 25 August 2015.

Investigations are continuing.
