Mackay detectives have charged a 38-year-old local man with armed robbery following investigations into two recent robberies of Mackay supermarkets.

Police will allege that around 6pm on July 24 a man armed with a knife stole cash from a Napier Street supermarket.

A man armed with a knife then allegedly stole cash from a Juliette Street supermarket around 5.55pm on July 31.

No one was physically injured during the robberies.

The man is due to appear in the Mackay Magistrates Court this morning charged with two counts of armed robbery. He has also been charged with one count of stealing in relation to the alleged theft of cigarettes from a supermarket on July 27.
