Police have charged a man following an alleged armed robbery in Orange yesterday.

About 4.20pm (Saturday 29 August 2015), a 23-year-old man was working at the counter of a supermarket on Pielsey Street, when a man approached him.

The man allegedly threatened the attendant with a knife and demanded cash.

The attendant attempted to disarm the man and was then assisted by another attendant, a 44-year-old woman.

During the struggle both attendants received cuts to their hands, before the man ran from the location.

Police were called and officers from Canobolas Local Area Command attended the location and commenced an investigation.

A crime scene was established and examined by specialist forensic officers.

A search for the man was commenced and a short time later, investigators stopped a man on the overhead bridge, near Orange Railway Station.

The 49-year-old man was arrested and taken to Orange Police Station and was charged with robbery armed with an offensive weapon cause wounding.

The man was refused bail to appear at Orange Bail Court tomorrow (Sunday 30 August 2015).

Both attendants attended Orange Health Service for wounds to their hands. They have both since been released.
