Police have charged one man and continue investigating to identify a second man following an armed robbery in Alexandria this morning.
About 5.50am (Sunday 6 September 2015), two male staff, aged 28 and 32 were working at a cafe on Copeland Street, to start work.
Two other men allegedly entered the cafe and threatened the employees with a knife demanding cash.
One of the staff members became afraid, ran to the cool room and picked up a knife.
The two men then allegedly started to run from the location. The staff chased the men, caught one and held him while police were called.
Officers from Redfern Local Area Command attended and arrested the man. The 25-year-old was taken to Redfern Police Station.
Police commenced a search for the second man, who had stolen cash, but he was unable to be located.
The 25-year-old man was charged with robbery with aggravation and assault with intent to rob.
He was refused bail to appear at Central Local Court tomorrow (Monday 7 September 2015).
