A man armed with a piece of steel attempted to rob a supermarket at Currimundi tonight (September 23).
Around 7.20pm the man entered the Buderim Avenue store, threatening a 32-year-old male employee, before jumping the counter and attempting to open the cash register.
The man fled empty handed after failing to open the till.
No one was physically injured and police investigations are continuing.
