Police investigating an attempted armed robbery in western Sydney have released CCTV stills of a man who may be able to assist with inquiries.

Around 6.30am on Monday 28 September 2015, a man armed with a knife walked into a corner store on Manning Street, Kingswood, and demanded money from the attendant working behind the counter.

The attendant, a 54-year-old man, armed himself with a piece of wood, prompting the man with the knife to smash some jars of food before fleeing the store empty-handed

Police attended the scene and detectives from St Marys Local Area Command commenced an investigation into the matter.

Investigators have now released an image of a man who may be able to assist with police inquiries.

He is described as being of Caucasian appearance, approximately 180cm tall with brown hair and stubble on his face. In the CCTV stills, he appears to be wearing a dark Nike cap, and a dark jumper with the letters DLX on the front.
