Three males have been charged following an alleged armed robbery at a bottle shop in Orange yesterday afternoon.

About 1.15pm (Sunday 24 January 2016), three males entered a bottle shop on Lords Place, before one of them approached an employee while allegedly armed with a knife.

The employee subsequently fled the location. No one was injured during the incident.

It’s further alleged the trio took several packets of cigarettes, before the group ran from the bottle shop; they were last seen running along Moulder Street.

Officers attached to Canobolas Local Area Command were called to the location a short time later.

A crime scene was established and examined by specialist forensic officers and detectives.

Following inquiries, a 15-year-old male was arrested about 4am today (Monday 25 January 2016) at a hotel on Bathurst Street, Orange.

He was taken to Orange Police Station where it’s alleged he assaulted an officer while being taken into the custody area.

The teen has since been charged with armed robbery in company, assault police and breach bail, and was refused bail to appear in children’s court today. He’s been remanded in custody to appear before children’s court on Monday 7 March 2016.

About 12.20pm today, a 29-year-old man was arrested at a shopping centre on Summer Street, Orange, and taken to Orange Police Station.

Shortly before 3pm this afternoon, an 18-year-old man attended Orange Police Station, where he was also arrested.

Both men have now been charged with armed robbery in company and have been refused bail to appear before Orange Local Court tomorrow (Tuesday 26 January 2016).
