Police, on the scene quickly following an armed robbery in Cairns this morning, arrested the alleged offender approximately 200 meters from the scene of the crime.

Police will allege that a man armed with a knife threatened a 19-year-old male store employee and a 35-year-old male customer, before stealing cash from a Sheridan Street grocery store around 2.25am.

A man aged in his 20’s is currently assisting detectives from the Cairns Criminal Investigation Branch.

No one was physically injured during the robbery and police investigations are continuing.
