A Paralowie man has been arrested for numerous offences after he allegedly knocked a service station attendant to the ground while failing to pay for petrol yesterday at Salisbury Downs.

Just after 4pm on Saturday 2 April, a console operator at a service station on Winzor Street noticed a man filling a Ford sedan which had mud smeared over the number plates.

The female console operator went to confirm the registration number, but the man started the car and drove off without paying for the petrol, knocking the woman over and failing to stop.

The woman was taken to the Lyell McEwin Hospital for treatment to a minor head injury.

Elizabeth Police investigating the incident interviewed the registered owner. When she failed to identify the person driving her car, the 31-year-old woman from Paralowie was arrested.

Further enquiries led police to arrest a 34-year-old man from Paralowie with cause harm by dangerous driving, acts to endanger life, driving in a manner dangerous to the public, fail to stop after an accident and theft of petrol.

The arrested man was refused police bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court tomorrow.
