Police are investigating following an armed robbery and an attempted armed robbery at Hope Island early this morning.

At 12:20am two men attempted to gain entry to a service station on Broadwater Avenue but were unsuccessful.

At around 12:40am the same two men gained entry to another service station on Broadwater Avenue before threating a male employee with a knife and demanding money and cigarettes.

The employee complied with their demands and the two men fled the scene on foot with a quantity of cash and cigarettes.

The employee was not physically injured during the incident.

The first man is described as Caucasian in appearance, approximately 177cm tall, of a medium build and aged in his late teens to early 20s. He was last seen wearing a black jacket with large white Nike “tick” on it and blue shorts.

The second man is described as Caucasian in appearance aged in his late teens to early 20s and was last seen wearing a black and white checked hoodie and carrying a Nike bag.

Investigations are continuing.
