Police have released CCTV images as investigations continue into an attempted armed robbery at Queanbeyan yesterday.

About 1.40pm (Tuesday 7 June 2016), emergency services were called to a bank on Monaro Street, Queanbeyan, following reports of a robbery.

Initial investigations suggest a man wearing dark clothing and with his face covered, entered the bank and threatened staff with a shortened firearm, before fleeing empty handed.

No one was injured during the incident.

The man was last seen driving away in a silver Honda sedan, which had been reported stolen from a Queanbeyan address last week.

The Honda was later discovered burnt out at a park on Blundell Street, Queanbeyan East.

The vehicle was seized and will undergo forensic examination.

Detectives from Monaro Local Area Command are continuing their investigations and have released a CCTV image of a man who may be able to assist with their inquiries.

In addition, they have released an image of the vehicle, and would like to speak with anyone who may have seen it in the area yesterday afternoon.
