Inquiries are underway after a man was injured during an armed robbery in Whalan last night.

About 7.20pm (Sunday 19 June 2016), two men, one allegedly armed with an electronic control device, entered a supermarket on Bulolo Drive and threatened two staff members.

An altercation took place, during which a staff member received a facial injuries after being stunned by the electronic control device.

The men fled the scene and emergency services were called.

Police from Mt Druitt Local Area Command attended. One of the staff members, a 22-year-old-man was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The other, also a man, was not injured during the incident.

A crime scene was established which will be examined by forensic specialists.

The two offenders were last seen fleeing the scene on foot on Bulolo Drive.

Both men are described as being 165cm to 175cm tall and with a medium builds. They were wearing dark clothing and had their faces covered.
