Police are appealing for witnesses following an attempted armed robbery at a service station in Lakemba.

About 11.05pm yesterday (Thursday 23 June 2016), a man entered a service station on the corner of Punchbowl Road and Wangee Road.

He produced a screwdriver and demanded money from the till.

An employee refused the demands and the man left the location empty-handed.

Officers attached to Campsie Local Area Command established a crime scene and commenced investigations.

Police would like to speak with a man who may be able to assist with inquiries.

He is described as being of Caucasian appearance with a thin build, in his mid 20s and about 168cm tall.

He was last seen wearing a black hooded top and blue jeans.

As inquiries continue, investigators are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or has any information, to come forward.
