Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding two armed robberies in Dundas this afternoon.

About 12.30pm (Thursday 14 July 2016), a man entered a post office on Station Street armed with a firearm.

He approached the counter and pointed the firearm at a 51-year-old employee who turned and ran from the counter to the rear of the store.

The armed man left the premises empty-handed.

The second incident occurred at a supermarket on Yates Road about 12.45pm.

A man matching the same description entered the supermarket and approached the counter where a 60-year-old woman was working.

The man produced a firearm and reached over the counter and stole a small amount of cash that was sitting next to the till.

He ran from the store onto Mackay Road and entered a blue Holden Berlina and left the area.

Crime scenes have been established at both stores and police are continuing their investigation.

A man described as being 175cm tall with a black goatee style beard and wearing a black hooded jumper with blue tracksuit pants that had white stripe down the side and dark gloves may be able to assist with inquiries.
