Police are investigating the armed robbery of a jewellery store in Albion this afternoon.
Around 3.46pm two men, with their faces covered and wearing high-vis clothing, entered the Sandgate Road business allegedly armed with an axe and threatened three staff members.
The employees were then forced to the ground at the rear of the store.
One of the employees challenged the men and was struck in the back of head with the axe.
It’s understood the men stole an unknown quantity of jewellery and cash before fleeing the store on foot.
The pair were last seen on Camden Street and may have fled in a vehicle.
A man has been taken to hospital for treatment to non-life threatening injuries. The two other employees were not physically injured.
Police are appealing for anyone with information that may assist with investigations including CCTV or dash cam footage to contact Crime Stoppers.
