Fraud Squad detectives have arrested a man following investigations into an alleged $3.9 million fraud.
Shortly before 11am today, a 48-year-old man was arrested in Mosman before being taken to North Sydney Police Station. Charges are expected to be laid.
It will be alleged the man was involved in the fraudulent financing of Harley Davidson motor cycles, luxury cars, heavy earth moving equipment and real estate, totalling $3.9 million.
Today’s arrest follows investigations conducted under Strike Force Apia, which comprises detectives from the State Crime Command’s Fraud Squad.
The Strike Force was established in September 2007 to investigate incidents of alleged complex, large-scale mortgage fraud.
Detectives have to date proactively prevented the processing of fraudulent loan applications valued in excess of $55 million.
To date, a total of 14 people have been arrested by Strike Force Apia detectives, with more than 100 charges laid relating to a total of $15million in fraudulent loans. Investigations are continuing.
