Police have charged a man following investigations into the armed robbery of a licensed premises in Ashmore early yesterday morning.

It will be alleged the 21-year-old Upper Coomera man entered the business on Cotlew Street around 3.15am armed with a shortened firearm, produced a bag and demanded money from staff.

He was arrested by police this afternoon at an Upper Coomera address.

A 21-year-old Upper Coomera man has been charged with one count each of armed robbery, unlawful possession of weapons category C/E weapon – firearm used to commit indictable offence, possessing dangerous drugs, possess utensils for the purpose of administering, using or producing dangerous drugs, and possess property suspected of having been used in the connection with the commission of a drug offence.

He will appear in the Southport Magistrates Court tomorrow.
